Flow Builder: your first working flow

Understand blocks, connections, branches and the draft-to-live workflow.

Read the canvas

A trigger starts a run. An action does work. A condition selects a path. A connection carries execution from a block's output to the next block; a block left disconnected will not run just because it is visible.

Build a tiny flow

Open a command's Flow Builder and add Slash Command.
Set Name to hello and Description to “Show a greeting”.
Add Reply. Set Content to Hello {username}! and enable Ephemeral.
Drag from the trigger's output to Reply's input.
Select each block and review its properties. A block title is a canvas label; it is not necessarily the command name or variable key.
Save and inspect validation messages. Publish, start the bot and run /hello in Discord.

Navigate and inspect

Pan the canvas to reach distant blocks, zoom out to understand branches, and select a block to see its settings. On mobile open the properties/library sheets from the builder controls; close an unused sheet to regain canvas space. The message preview shows appearance, while the properties panel changes the selected block.

Add a branch

Place Check Permission before an action. Connect true to the action and false to a private denial Reply. Both responses should be understandable. A branch with no connection ends silently. Connect dependent work in sequence and keep several outputs arranged clearly left to right.

Find a block's reference

Use the block's guide link or search Docs for its exact title/type. Each reference lists the current fields and output handles, message/form editors where relevant, and common setup checks.
